Ep-81: Espresso Martinis, Bean Grinders & Caffeine Crimes ☕️
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Welcome back, Demon Babies! This week your hosts are talking everything coffee. Hot vs iced, decaf, espresso machines, grinding your own beans, canned coffee, coffee shops, and the endless ways we've managed to turn caffeine into an entire personality. From the perfect latte to coffee that tastes vaguely like chemicals, we're breaking down the good, the bad, and the unnecessarily complicated. And yes… all in 20 topics in 20 minutes.
Then things get boozy. Espresso martinis at the beginning of the night, Jäger cold brew before snowboarding, Irish coffee strictly in cold climates, and coffee tequila when someone needs to be peer pressured into a shot. We also get into protein coffee, gas station coffee, dirty chai vs dirty matcha, pod machines, coffee stations, and where coffee should and absolutely should not be consumed.
Expect caffeine hot takes, coffee snobbery, questionable drinking advice, and a full breakdown of why something as simple as bean water has inspired this much discourse.
Listen for:
☕ Hot vs iced and the importance of LOTS of ice
☕ Espresso martinis, Irish coffee, and other boozy caffeine
☕ Protein coffee and canned coffee crimes
☕ Bean grinders, espresso machines, and coffee snob behavior
☕ Dirty chai vs dirty matcha and the perfect place to drink coffee

Welcome to another episode of the Demon Baby Podcast. I'm your host, Demon of Hollywood. And if you know anything about me and my co-host, you know I like to grind her bean. And I'm sitting here with my co-host, Blonde Baby.
SPEAKER_01What kind of bean are we talking about here? This is a PG-rated show.
SPEAKER_00This is the Demon Baby Podcast.
SPEAKER_01True.
SPEAKER_00I don't know how PG it is. I think it's 18 and plus on YouTube.
SPEAKER_01That's probably good.
SPEAKER_00Or 17 and up, they say.
SPEAKER_01You know, give or take. Give or take, a year matters. It does.
SPEAKER_00It's an important year.
SPEAKER_01Anyways.
SPEAKER_00You can go to jail.
SPEAKER_01True. It does matter.
SPEAKER_00Well, this is the Demon Baby Podcast. We do 20 topics in 20 minutes. And today's episode is Coffee! Coffee V.
SPEAKER_01Coffee V.
SPEAKER_00Kaffee View. Cough of coffee. And welcome to the show.
SPEAKER_01Let's get into it.
SPEAKER_00Okay, though.
SPEAKER_01Wasted. Wasted. No.
SPEAKER_00How are you? I'm good. How are you?
SPEAKER_01Good. I'm ready to get into the topics.
SPEAKER_00Really?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but now I I need to know because you know it's tradition around here that we do a wellness check before we get into the topics.
SPEAKER_00I thought I was dying yesterday.
SPEAKER_01What?
SPEAKER_00My kidneys felt weird.
SPEAKER_01You didn't mention this once!
SPEAKER_00We were together all day! The too scared.
SPEAKER_01What do you mean?
SPEAKER_00My kidneys felt a little weird.
SPEAKER_01What does that mean? Your kidneys felt weird.
SPEAKER_00On my left side. Drank a lot of water.
SPEAKER_01What did it feel like? Describe it.
SPEAKER_00Pain.
SPEAKER_01Pain.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Subtle pain, though. Not a lot of pain. But like if this keeps going more, you're gonna go to the doctor. I gotta have to go to the doctor.
SPEAKER_01Really?
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Not like if it kept going at that rate, but if it kept if it kept going up.
SPEAKER_01Joey, that's not good. Why didn't you tell me these things when they're happening?
SPEAKER_00Well, I figured we had a lot of wine over the weekend. It was probably just a wine kidney issue.
SPEAKER_01It yeah, it probably would be.
SPEAKER_00Drank a lot of water. Slept good.
SPEAKER_01Feeling better?
SPEAKER_00Feel perfect. Feel great. Feel great, look great.
SPEAKER_01Doctor's clocking. Can an excess amount of wine make your kidneys hurt? Or is that where your liver is, your upper left?
SPEAKER_00No, I don't know. You don't know.
SPEAKER_01You don't know.
SPEAKER_00You don't know.
SPEAKER_01I don't. That's why I asked.
SPEAKER_00Pretty sure it's your kidney area.
SPEAKER_01Alright.
SPEAKER_00Also, it could have just been a muscle in my back.
SPEAKER_01Okay. You're a workout looking. I'm good.
SPEAKER_00You're skinny.
SPEAKER_01I'm skinny. I feel great. You're blonde. I'm blonde. I'm figuring my wedding hair out. I'm very excited about it. My hairstylist is killing it.
SPEAKER_00We are doing our tasting this week.
SPEAKER_01Friday. Whoop-whoop. Not to dox ourselves, but invites went out. Invites are out. Wedding planning is in full effect.
SPEAKER_00Almost no one wants to RSVP. They go, we got it. I'm like, that's great.
SPEAKER_01I'm like, yeah, you should put your name down, dog.
SPEAKER_00So you're coming.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Lock it in.
SPEAKER_00Lock it in.
SPEAKER_01Well, it's only day one, so you're gonna have probably a hundred more days of worrying about this.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I'll probably have a hundred more days.
SPEAKER_01Um get ready.
SPEAKER_00So excited. Get ready for our first topic.
SPEAKER_01I think it's time.
SPEAKER_00Hit me.
SPEAKER_01First topic.
SPEAKER_00Liberals make the best coffee.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I don't know why. Republicans just can't do it.
SPEAKER_00Republicans can't make good coffee.
SPEAKER_01You know why? It's because they're too embarrassed. They're like, oh, I don't want to make that sweet liberal bullshit. And there's some whatever weird take they decide to take on it.
SPEAKER_00And they're like, ah. Maybe. It's possible.
SPEAKER_01They can't lean into whatever it needs to be enough.
SPEAKER_00Or like the hyper focus of something. Because it doesn't even need to be a sweet coffee. No. Liberal will be a great pour over, just single origin, delicious, nice. Perfectly brewed. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Perfectly roasted. Yeah, for some reason the Republicans can't nail down the brewing or the roasting or the process at all.
SPEAKER_00It's the liberal field.
SPEAKER_01It is. They're too embarrassed.
SPEAKER_00Blue hair and septum. I wanted to do a septum piercing just for this episode.
SPEAKER_01That would have been sick. That would have been really cool.
SPEAKER_00We don't have any fake piercings yet.
SPEAKER_01No, we do.
SPEAKER_00What?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you should have talked to me about this.
SPEAKER_00Oh my god. We could have had a good episode on it. Blow it!
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I totally agree though.
SPEAKER_00Liberals make better coffee. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Liberals make the best coffee.
SPEAKER_00Uh you know why?
SPEAKER_01Because progressive thinkers need more caffeine to get through their day.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_01Alright.
SPEAKER_00Maybe.
SPEAKER_01I don't know.
SPEAKER_00Sure. More coffee.
SPEAKER_01More coffee?
SPEAKER_00More coffee, more ideas.
SPEAKER_01There we go. Next topic?
SPEAKER_00Sure.
SPEAKER_01Alright.
SPEAKER_00Decaf. Who and why?
SPEAKER_01Pregnant women that need to taste coffee but can't have caffeine.
SPEAKER_00And maybe like heart attack victims or something.
SPEAKER_01Why can't you have caffeine if you're pregnant?
SPEAKER_00Because the baby doesn't own caffeine.
SPEAKER_01But why can't the baby have caffeine?
SPEAKER_00Baby, baby plus caffeine, I think bad.
SPEAKER_01Doesn't it just grow organ faster?
SPEAKER_00You could probably be done in six months.
SPEAKER_01That's what I'm saying. Speed the process.
SPEAKER_00If you drink enough coffee, you can just a four month.
SPEAKER_01My baby's gonna die.
SPEAKER_00Baby on halftime.
SPEAKER_01God.
SPEAKER_00Uh yeah, it's weird. I don't understand. I mean, I guess caffeine does a lot more than we would think to us. Yeah. It is a drug after all.
SPEAKER_01It's yeah, it's a diuretic.
SPEAKER_00Diuretic.
SPEAKER_01I don't know what else it does.
SPEAKER_00I don't know.
SPEAKER_01Wakes you up, wake you upy.
SPEAKER_00It's an upper.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, maybe heart attack. I don't know. That's really the only people it's for. Or people that are like, I'm sensitive. And I'm like, then why are you drinking coffee at all?
SPEAKER_00Uh yeah, I guess they like the flav.
SPEAKER_01I mean I like the flavor, I get it.
SPEAKER_00I mean, I guess I get it.
SPEAKER_01Does it taste the same? If you're pregnant, I've never had it.
SPEAKER_00When you're pregnant, are you gonna do decaf? Definitely. It does apparently taste the same. But I don't know, I've never had it. I don't think I've ever had it.
SPEAKER_01I think I'm mentally gonna need it because I'm not gonna be able to have sushi, and that's gonna be a huge hit.
SPEAKER_00So to make up for your sushi, you're gonna have to decaf.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00You could do imitation crab meat though.
SPEAKER_01Which I will probably also do it.
SPEAKER_00And you could do like cooked shrimp and stuff and cucumber. Yes, there's ways around that.
SPEAKER_01We will get around it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I think that's not gonna be.
SPEAKER_01There's always a workaround.
SPEAKER_00Always a loophole.
SPEAKER_01I love a loophole.
SPEAKER_00You can't stop me from having a good time.
SPEAKER_01No.
SPEAKER_00That's my whole life.
SPEAKER_01And that's why you don't drink decaf.
SPEAKER_00That's true. I'm an upper kind of guy. I like to go up.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you're not too low.
SPEAKER_00No, I don't go down.
SPEAKER_01Next topic.
SPEAKER_00Starbucks protein coffee.
SPEAKER_01Oh, they're just hopping on the protein maxing trend.
SPEAKER_00They are just on the protein maxine trend.
SPEAKER_01I don't really like it. I don't really like the protein coffee thing. I've like bought it before when I'm at work and I'm like, oh, I'm not gonna eat. I should probably try this. It's not good.
SPEAKER_00It's not. It tastes disgusting. It tastes like a protein chemical protein shake.
SPEAKER_01I don't like protein shake. It makes me nauseous.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it it gives it. I just go, ugh.
SPEAKER_01I'm gonna throw up now.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. That's what I feel like.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, pro protein coffee's disgusting.
SPEAKER_00Protein, most things. Most protein bars, I'm like, oh, it tastes chemically. Yeah. I'm like, my body's not processing this. Like, yes, I'm eating the protein, but I don't think I'm absorbing it.
SPEAKER_01I don't know if this is actually benefiting me in any possibility.
SPEAKER_00I feel like it's just a brick inside.
SPEAKER_01It should have just had an apple.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Or like a slice of turkey or something.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I should have just eaten ground beef.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, give me an egg.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Oh, a lot of eggs.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but um, Starbucks needs to just hop off the trends and die. It's not good anymore. Nothing they make is good.
SPEAKER_00I'm I got a Starbucks protein coffee today. Oh. Because it was at the gas station. I've never seen it. I've never seen it at the gas station.
SPEAKER_01Wait, at the gas station? That's worse. I thought you got one at like a drive.
SPEAKER_00Pre-made. No, no, no. Pre-made one. Oh, yeah. I was like, let me try that.
SPEAKER_01How was it?
SPEAKER_00The first sip, I was like, okay.
SPEAKER_01I can get into it.
SPEAKER_00I can get into it. It's enough.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_00I got the coffee-flavored one, which is odd to have coffee-flavored coffee, but we're gonna move past that.
SPEAKER_01Wait, you got a coffee-flavored protein coffee.
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_01Okay, that's crazy too.
SPEAKER_00Moving on, I'm sure it's a legal issue. Uh but yeah, then I got the count I started getting the chemical hit of it. It was like 22 grams of protein.
SPEAKER_01Did it give you a headache?
SPEAKER_00No, but it uh something like that has given me headaches in the past.
SPEAKER_01Okay, but hear me out, there's something about it, not a headache, but it gives me a weird heady.
SPEAKER_00I almost feel like I'm on something. I'm like, whoa.
SPEAKER_01What kind of drug did I just take?
SPEAKER_00Word is everything. Did I just do a shot? I'm on planet protein right now. I don't know if I can.
SPEAKER_01Planet protein is crazy. I agree though.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, protein, coffee. I I don't I get my protein. Give me eggs and coffee. Give me anything.
SPEAKER_01Anything else.
SPEAKER_00Anything else.
SPEAKER_01But that.
SPEAKER_00Yep.
SPEAKER_01Agreed. Hit me. Next topic.
SPEAKER_00Iced coffee versus hot coffee.
SPEAKER_01Um, okay. I really've been going back and forth hard on this in the morning because I love iced coffee, but I love hot coffee in bed, but I also love iced coffee in bed. I love iced coffee when I'm out at a um store though.
SPEAKER_00Coffee shop, some people call it.
SPEAKER_01Cafe, coffee shop, anything. Store, tienda, I don't know.
SPEAKER_00Cafe.
SPEAKER_01Cafe.
SPEAKER_00Con helo or something.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Portuguese.
SPEAKER_01Uh oh, he's learning Portuguese. Yes. Um yeah. So but I'll take a hot if it's a rainy day. Sometimes. Even then, sometimes ice is better.
SPEAKER_00I will do hot at home.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I will do hot out if I have a little sore throat or something. Then I'm like, give me a hot coffee. I need to do that's gonna heal me.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's my version of a tea.
SPEAKER_00That's gonna heal yeah, it's gonna heal me.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I need. Uh iced coffee though is primarily what I go for when I'm out.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Iced coffee, ice cold brew.
SPEAKER_00I like cold brews, so I get it, you know. You get a cold brew. There's no such thing as a hot, cold brew.
SPEAKER_01No.
SPEAKER_00That's just a hot coffee, hot brew. It's just a hot coffee. Uh and then yeah, I latte is just usually better cold.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Yeah. Agreed.
SPEAKER_00I don't like when it's not iced enough, though.
SPEAKER_01Oh, piss me off. Not iced enough or not sugared enough.
SPEAKER_00If it's pissed me off. I mean, if I want cold brew, gladly give me a crisp black cold brew.
SPEAKER_01Oh, I don't like lots of ice too. Lots of ice.
SPEAKER_00But if I want a latte, better hit that coldness scale, and you better hit that sweetness scale. Otherwise, it's garbage.
SPEAKER_01Our our old favorite has been under-sweetening, and we don't go anymore because it's not worth it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I think it's easier to sweeten a hot coffee.
SPEAKER_01Well, yeah, because it dissolves and makes sense. I think you gotta make it in with the espresso if you're gonna make it like a true latte. It's an espresso and then milk. It's gotta go sugar espresso mix, pour it in over the ice, lots of ice, little milk. Because it's gonna melt.
SPEAKER_00I don't need that much milk, little milk.
SPEAKER_01Even put the espresso into the cup first, then ice, then milk.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So then it doesn't melt too much.
SPEAKER_00Lots of ice, always.
SPEAKER_01But then your ice isn't pre-melted.
SPEAKER_00True.
SPEAKER_01That's my take.
SPEAKER_00That's your take.
SPEAKER_01Next topic.
SPEAKER_00Yes. Alcoholic coffee.
SPEAKER_01Great for pregaming snowboarding.
SPEAKER_00Okay. I hey I have four alcoholic coffee things.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_00That I can think of. Maybe you can think of more after we did four.
SPEAKER_01Okay, this is fine.
SPEAKER_00You're gonna give me time and place. Oh, and good or bad.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_00Number one. Espresso martini.
SPEAKER_01Delicious.
SPEAKER_00Where's the best one?
SPEAKER_01The best one.
SPEAKER_00Beginning of the night? End of the night? Where? When?
SPEAKER_01Beginning of the night. Rooftop bar.
SPEAKER_00Rooftop bar. Beginning of the night. Start it off. Yeah. Get a little oh wait. Yeah, wiki. You got a little wiki.
SPEAKER_01Chill in the air on you. Cold little martini. Espresso martini. Wiki uppie. Delicious.
SPEAKER_00I would almost argue espresso martini would be a good brunch drink.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I've done it. You understand? No, I've done it. Do you hear me? I do. Because you also need the wakey uppie because you're It's morning. It's morning. Yeah, I agree. That's sexy.
SPEAKER_00If you're doing a boozy brunch. If you're doing a boozy brunch, we don't do often, but if you were, that might be a good move.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that that is a good move. That I think that would actually be a better move than a mimosa because mimosa is sleepy.
SPEAKER_00Mimosa is sleepy.
SPEAKER_01That's wakey uppie.
SPEAKER_00Wakey uppy, more important.
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_00Unless then you go, oh no.
SPEAKER_01I'm too awake.
SPEAKER_00I'm gonna just keep this train moving all day until I drop.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Yeah. Problems. That's more of an us problem. I think most people would just drop.
SPEAKER_00Oh.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Alright, next scenario.
SPEAKER_00Jaeger cold brew.
SPEAKER_01Delicious.
SPEAKER_00Where is your favorite?
SPEAKER_01On the mountain. On the mountain. Pre-snowboarding. During snowboarding. During snowboarding.
SPEAKER_00In the parking lot of the snowboard.
SPEAKER_01Perfect.
SPEAKER_00Oh, so good.
SPEAKER_01It just gets me in the mood to listen to some ratchet music and snowboard my little brain out.
SPEAKER_00Mm-hmm. Slam City.
SPEAKER_01Slam city!
SPEAKER_00One ticket to Slam City, please.
SPEAKER_01I'll take it.
SPEAKER_00Operation Cold Brew.
SPEAKER_01Put me on a lift.
SPEAKER_00Irish coffee. Number three.
SPEAKER_01Delicious for after snowboarding. In this lodge.
SPEAKER_00I'll agree. And I'm gonna also add, I'll drink an Irish coffee on a plane.
SPEAKER_01Crazy? I totally understand that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Also in a jacuzzi in a cold place.
SPEAKER_00Hmm. Hmm. What about by a fire in a cold place?
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_00Never in a hot place. Never, never allowed in a hot place.
SPEAKER_01Never in a hot place. Not in a plane going to a hot place either.
SPEAKER_00No.
SPEAKER_01It has to be going to a cold place.
SPEAKER_00Cold place. Cold destination. You can come from a hot place though.
SPEAKER_01You can come, but you gotta be going to a cold. You gotta land in your never, ever have that in a hot place. That's disgusting. No, I don't respect you.
SPEAKER_00Okay. Number four in my last one.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_00Tequila flavored coffee.
SPEAKER_01Tequila flavored coffee.
SPEAKER_00Which we had in Mexico and we bought a bottle of like pink or whatever.
SPEAKER_01Oh, that was super yum.
SPEAKER_00Super yum. It's only good for shots. I really wouldn't.
SPEAKER_01Only good for shots. It's not, yeah, it's not shot.
SPEAKER_00And it's kind of uh uh it's kind of kitschy.
SPEAKER_01It's super kitschy, but it was delicious.
SPEAKER_00But I wouldn't really get it again.
SPEAKER_01No, but if you're gonna like if someone served it to me, I wasn't wouldn't be mad. No, I mean if I'm That's good for a pregame.
SPEAKER_00That it's good. Wakey uppie.
SPEAKER_01Wakey uppie, entertain a group, be like, hey guys, everybody's gonna try this. Uh-huh. That's how you're gonna get the people that don't want to do shots to do it too.
SPEAKER_00Oh, great peer pressure.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, be like, no, you've gotta try it.
SPEAKER_00It's unique. It's not just tequila, it's coffee cocky law. It's take a little sippy.
SPEAKER_01Well, do a baby shot, it's fine.
SPEAKER_00Just a baby shot.
SPEAKER_01Just a little baby shot.
SPEAKER_00Uh-huh.
SPEAKER_01All right. All right, that's it. Next topic.
SPEAKER_00Gas station coffee.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I've only done the gas station coffee. Coffee? Coffee. Coffee a couple of times. It's just, you know, you know what you're getting.
SPEAKER_00You know what you're getting and you need it. You don't need it too strong.
SPEAKER_01Did you hear about? Sorry to interrupt you. There's a new gas station coming in in Beverly Hills that's supposed to be like the air one of gas stations, and the prices of the gas are supposedly gonna be the same. But the whole point is that they're gonna have a fancy interior shopping experience. And it's supposed to have fancy lattes.
SPEAKER_00I heard something about this, and it's amazing it took this long.
SPEAKER_01I am shopped too. Now I want to make my own on this side of town.
SPEAKER_00This side of town.
SPEAKER_01This side of town.
SPEAKER_00You don't live on the Beverly Hills side of town.
SPEAKER_01I ain't never gonna.
SPEAKER_00You're a Hollywood key.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Um, but yeah, what do you think of that? Do you think that's genius?
SPEAKER_00Genius. I think it's good if you can do it fast enough, it's gonna be an issue.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, because you're gonna get too many people in that lot.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01You gotta have turnaround still, it's still a gas station. Still gotta have. Still gotta be a run and gun situation.
SPEAKER_00A little bit. Or people just sit in their car. I don't know. It should be fine. I think it's a great idea. I think it's I mean, people need gas, people need coffee.
SPEAKER_01And people will go, especially in Beverly Hills, for expensive coffee.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, especially if it's kitschy.
SPEAKER_01And it's good.
SPEAKER_00Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_01If it's good, that place is gonna blow up.
SPEAKER_00Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_01Agreed.
SPEAKER_00Agreed.
SPEAKER_01All right. Next topic.
SPEAKER_00Canned coffee.
SPEAKER_01I used to do canned coffees a lot for work and I just can't. I can't.
SPEAKER_00I used to do it. I mean, I'll do the cold brew, nitro cold brew from Starbucks can sometimes.
SPEAKER_01Oh, I can't do that one. That one makes me sick.
SPEAKER_00And it makes me sick.
SPEAKER_01That makes me sick.
SPEAKER_00It makes me feel sick almost every time.
SPEAKER_01Right? It's disgusting. So yeah. It's so bad. Why is it so bad? I don't know. It tastes like I'm creating it.
SPEAKER_00And I'm just like, I don't know.
SPEAKER_01There's one from Pop Bottle that I'll drink. It comes in a blue can.
SPEAKER_00Um Pop bottles of upper echelon of the canton.
SPEAKER_01I mean, it's still like the same as a normal priced coffee. La cologne just fell off. Those are disgusting.
SPEAKER_00They used to be okay and they just fell off.
SPEAKER_01The milk on those got really yucky.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it almost fit they almost all taste bad now. Yeah. All the milk tastes bad.
SPEAKER_01It tastes like it's gone sour.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. It's all gonna be sour.
SPEAKER_01Even if you don't have a real milk one, if you have an old milk one, it still tastes sour. Like, why is it curdled? Lokalum. Fix your shit.
SPEAKER_00Fix your shit.
SPEAKER_01Sorry.
SPEAKER_00There you go.
SPEAKER_01All right. Next topic.
SPEAKER_00Grinding your own beans.
SPEAKER_01Like how we do for our machine?
SPEAKER_00Kind of.
SPEAKER_01More like properly grinding in like a separate grinding.
SPEAKER_00Let's say separate grinder more, because in our machine that's kind of a one-stop shop more. Yeah. Let's say a fully separate uh mobile grinding operation. Operations off site.
SPEAKER_01It's a little highbrow for me.
SPEAKER_00It's a little highbrow for me as well.
SPEAKER_01It's a little pretentious.
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_01But maybe it's nice.
SPEAKER_00If it's your thing, I'll really like it.
SPEAKER_01Like if that's your hobby.
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_01And you're hobby maxing.
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_01I'm not gonna like yuck your yum. I don't have the energy to do it.
SPEAKER_00But if you're going, that's the only way I'll really do this.
SPEAKER_01See, that's where you take it too far.
SPEAKER_00That's where the brow gets too high.
SPEAKER_01Like if you're looking down on other people for not doing it, or you won't drink their coffee because they don't do what you do, or you shit on them for not doing what you do, like okay, whatever, buddy. We get it. You grind your own beans.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01But like if you're just enjoying yourself grinding your own beans.
SPEAKER_00Like you should call them a slur, like a bean grinder or something.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I like that.
SPEAKER_00Stupid grinder.
SPEAKER_01What do you what do you want? Grinder?
SPEAKER_00Ugh. What are you? One of those grinders?
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Get your gears straight. Put your gears straight. Gears somewhere else, weirdo.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I don't know. I can't do it. What do you think?
SPEAKER_00I totally is separate if it's not your full hobby. And you know, when people make it their hobby, usually they're pretty nice about it. But when it's your identity or something, that's the distinction.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's the distinction. It's what it goes from hobby to identity. It's too much.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Agreed. Next topic.
SPEAKER_00Espresso machines.
SPEAKER_01I love, but there's tears.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_01So like I used to have a Keurig. It was a I had a Keurig and I had an espresso.
SPEAKER_00I had an espresso, yes.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it was an espresso. And just I I don't believe in the pods.
SPEAKER_00Also, we're gonna add onto this topic people that say espresso.
SPEAKER_01Espresso?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, instead of espresso.
SPEAKER_01Oh, I mean, I know.
SPEAKER_00I'm fine with it.
SPEAKER_01I don't care.
SPEAKER_00I do hear it though.
SPEAKER_01It clocks me. I'm like, oh, yeah. It clocks me. You're having espresso.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I kind of like it. I'm like, good for you. You're having espresso.
SPEAKER_01That's express.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's fast.
SPEAKER_01It's fast. It's not fast though. So I don't think the pods are worth it. I think you get less coffee per cap. Like if you look at how many grounds we make in our machine, I'm like pointing at it like you can see it.
SPEAKER_00It's right there.
SPEAKER_01I know you can see it.
SPEAKER_00I can.
SPEAKER_01You get so much more bean going into it versus a tiny little pod. You're only getting that tiny amount, and I think that's why it always tastes so watered down because it is.
SPEAKER_00You're getting so much bean. You like that?
SPEAKER_01When you when you have like a real espresso maker.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I don't support pod machines. Although they're easy, convenient, more affordable, I get that. I don't know if they're worth it.
SPEAKER_00I think they save you one minute.
SPEAKER_01They save you a minute.
SPEAKER_00One minute, I think, is the difference.
SPEAKER_01What I'm saying is our machine's more expensive, which is true. But but we can just buy bags of beans, even cheap beans, and it'll turn out okay. They have to buy the pods for that machine.
SPEAKER_00I don't like the wastefulness of the pod.
SPEAKER_01Agreed. It's a lot of trash.
SPEAKER_00A lot of plastic and trash.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Agreed. Alright. Next topic.
SPEAKER_00Coffee stations versus having a bar in your house.
SPEAKER_01Ooh. Now, what would you call our corner?
SPEAKER_00That is just where we put our coffee machine.
SPEAKER_01It's nothing. It's not neither a station nor a bar.
SPEAKER_00No, that's just our coffee machine. I'm saying if we did, like let's say we put something like a whole cart. A cabinet or cart dedicated to one or the other, which one are you leaning?
SPEAKER_01Uh I think cabinet. I don't know like a cart.
SPEAKER_00Coffee or a bar. Coffee station or a bar.
SPEAKER_01Like an alcoholic?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, like one of those. You ever been to one? Ever heard of it?
SPEAKER_01No, I just didn't understand what we were asking.
SPEAKER_00A coffee station versus a bar.
SPEAKER_01I do a bar.
SPEAKER_00In your home. I do a bar. Some people do coffee stations in their bedroom.
SPEAKER_01I like that. I don't like that. Why?
SPEAKER_00Where are you getting the water?
SPEAKER_01Oh, you don't like it if they get the water at the bathroom?
SPEAKER_00No, I don't no, I don't like that at all.
SPEAKER_01But it gets filtered and it's all the same water.
SPEAKER_00I don't care. I don't like that.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_00Um, no, I don't like food stuff in the bedroom.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_00That's not go to the kitchen.
SPEAKER_01Get out of bed.
SPEAKER_00Get out of bed.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_00You can bring the coffee back in bed. We do it every morning.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00But get out of bed.
SPEAKER_01Make it in the kitchen.
SPEAKER_00Make it in the kitchen.
SPEAKER_01Make it where it's supposed to be made.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Okay, I get that.
SPEAKER_00Um, but yeah, I'm more pro-bar than coffee station. I think that's too much again.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, like it's one drink.
SPEAKER_00It's only one drink. Yeah, especially.
SPEAKER_01Coffee station's better for entertainment.
SPEAKER_00Coffee station's better for entertainment.
SPEAKER_01Sorry, bar is better for entertainment.
SPEAKER_00Do you even know what we're talking about anymore?
unknownNo.
SPEAKER_01I don't know how to speak. I'm actually like a Love Islander. I'm illiterate. Ah. No, I think a bar is more for entertainment. Multiple drinks, multiple things happening. You can make a wide variety of stuff. It's cuter.
SPEAKER_00Uh-huh. I agree. I I mean it's for other people almost.
SPEAKER_01It is for other people. It's for hosting.
SPEAKER_00Where like coffee station, it's like, okay. That's just for you. That's just for you.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. It's different.
SPEAKER_00It's not as fun.
SPEAKER_01I mean, you I think you could combine and have your coffee station mixed in with your bar cart because then you can make espresso martinis.
SPEAKER_00You could. I'm not gonna fully disagree with you, but this was more of a versus This or fat.
SPEAKER_01Well, all right. Then I I guess I go bar. What do you pick?
SPEAKER_00Bar.
SPEAKER_01All right, next topic.
SPEAKER_00I'm gonna combine these. I had them as two separate topics, uh, dirty chai and dirty matcha.
SPEAKER_01The dirties.
SPEAKER_00The dirty girls.
SPEAKER_01I love a little dirty girl.
SPEAKER_00Which one do you like more?
SPEAKER_01I think I'm a dirty chai.
SPEAKER_00Really?
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00You're lying, actually. You're actually lying straight. I'm actually not.
SPEAKER_01You're actually lying straight to my face. I'm not. I love a very one specific dirty matcha from Community Goods that I mix myself. And I think the rest of the matches just haven't been that great lately.
SPEAKER_00I think you're lying to me. There's no way you like a dirty chai more than dirty matcha. I like Mad Lob's Dirty Chai more than the dirty matcha?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, way more.
SPEAKER_00I think it's easier to get a better dirty chai. I think that's an easier drink to nail.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00But when it's made right, the dirty matcha's better.
SPEAKER_01I'll agree, but I think it's harder to find. So that's why I'm picking dirty chai.
SPEAKER_00Okay. So it's e you're choosing the easy option, I see.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Pretty lazy of you.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I want to take my safe route with that one.
SPEAKER_00That is safe route. Alright, that's fine. I'll go dirty matcha. You can go dirty chai.
SPEAKER_01We don't have to do the same.
SPEAKER_00Plus, it's more fun to see the colors of the matcha.
SPEAKER_01Whatever.
SPEAKER_00Yours looks the same.
SPEAKER_01Whatever. Next topic.
SPEAKER_00Best place to drink coffee.
SPEAKER_01Best place to drink coffee is outside.
SPEAKER_00Any specific area or just the whole outdoor area.
SPEAKER_01Um as long as it's clean.
SPEAKER_00Mine is outdoor on the beach early morning.
SPEAKER_01That's pretty good. The camping.
SPEAKER_00Possibly camping, yeah. That's a good one. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Camping or in the snow.
SPEAKER_00I disagree with the snow on the case.
SPEAKER_01I love the snow.
SPEAKER_00I know because I like to hear the waves. The cold morning fog at the beach. Hot coffee.
SPEAKER_01Delicious. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's an elite feeling.
SPEAKER_01That's pretty good. I'm just gonna put my name on the back. That's that's elite.
SPEAKER_00I nailed it too hard.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you did.
SPEAKER_00Alright.
SPEAKER_01Sorry. It's good though.
SPEAKER_00I'm glad I win.
SPEAKER_01I mean I'm here to win. But I'm gonna say no matter what, best coffees drank outside. The one problem where we live, we don't have balcony. I if we did, I would do morning coffee on balcony.
SPEAKER_00Oh, I'd be three shades darker.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I would have I wouldn't be darker at all.
SPEAKER_00But coffee inside, lot of glass, heavy rain, that's pretty good too.
SPEAKER_01That's good too. I agree with that.
SPEAKER_00So I don't know about that.
SPEAKER_01No, I'd still want to be on the balcony. Heavy rain.
SPEAKER_00Feel the rain on my skin. Smell it. No one else can feel it for you. Only you can let it in.
SPEAKER_01Next topic.
SPEAKER_00Worst place to drink coffee. I have a hard time thinking of this. Worst place to drink.
SPEAKER_01Near a trash can.
SPEAKER_00Okay. Outdoor? Dumpster coffee.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, if you're by a dumpster or it's smelly for some reason, I can't. I gotta get away.
SPEAKER_00I've never even been to one of these events, but here is my pitch for the worst place to drink coffee.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_00It's 101 degrees out.
SPEAKER_01Disgusting.
SPEAKER_00A NASCAR event.
SPEAKER_01Oh god, yeah. I don't know why. I totally agree. I've never been to one.
SPEAKER_00Anywhere you need a cold beer, I think, is probably the worst place to have a hot coffee.
SPEAKER_01I totally agree. A football stadium on a hot coffee. Bad place to have a coffee.
SPEAKER_00Uh-huh. Uh-huh. Where else was we gotta get a third option? Come on.
SPEAKER_01We don't even need one. Those were two bangers.
SPEAKER_00Those were pretty bangers.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Maybe a festival. Music festival.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. That's not good.
SPEAKER_00Like Coachella, it's a hundred degrees out. It's gotta be hot. That's the only thing ruining coffee.
SPEAKER_01But you can't if you're tired and you need a cold brew, I know. You kind of need it there. So that might be nice. And it's so open, it's different.
SPEAKER_00I wouldn't do a cold brew at NASCAR.
SPEAKER_01No. Not doing that, period. No, I need to be drunk.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, agreed. For those left turns.
SPEAKER_01Uh next topic.
SPEAKER_00Coffee ice cream.
SPEAKER_01I love.
SPEAKER_00I love coffee ice cream. I do kind of get sick of it near the end. But I'm more of a I'm when it comes to the ice cream, I'm pretty vanilla.
SPEAKER_01You are vanilla with ice cream. You don't like a lot of flavor. You want it quite literally to be vanilla.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I like a subtle.
SPEAKER_01What about an affogato? Ice cream in your coffee.
SPEAKER_00I like that a lot.
SPEAKER_01That's fire. That's fire.
SPEAKER_00That's better than coffee ice cream. Yeah. That's ice cream and coffee.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's Italian excellence.
SPEAKER_00Boom. That is.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Italian supremacy.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, totally agree.
SPEAKER_00All right.
SPEAKER_01Next topic.
SPEAKER_00Coffee after dinner.
SPEAKER_01Only on a holiday or a night out. Mm-hmm. Amazing digestive. You feel so much lighter after that dinner. You feel ready to go for the world.
SPEAKER_00Even if you don't use the restroom, you feel lighter.
SPEAKER_01No, it's just you feel like you've processed dinner and now you can move on to whatever's next.
SPEAKER_00I used to have a similar theory with having a Big Mac, you have to get a Coke as the digestive.
SPEAKER_01I should see that. Like you just need something acidic to break it up.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, literally. It's what it is. Coffee after dinner is elite. Yeah. Especially like a heavier dinner. Yeah. If it's a light dinner, actually, I don't think I want to. Like that salad for dinner.
SPEAKER_01No, you don't need it. But like that's a family tradition for your family. Coffee after dinner. And it's fantastic.
SPEAKER_00It is great.
SPEAKER_01When your grandma starts pulling out that coffee, I'm like, I'm here. I'll pour the coffee. We'll take it loop. I'll pour everyone's coffee. Who needs coffee? I got the coffee. I'll make the coffee.
SPEAKER_00There you go.
SPEAKER_01I love it. It's my favorite. Next topic.
SPEAKER_00Sure.
SPEAKER_01Alright.
SPEAKER_00Ideal day full of coffee. Morning to night.
SPEAKER_01Uh wake up black coffee in bed.
SPEAKER_00Hot? Iced.
SPEAKER_01Iced.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_01No hot. I'm going hot in bed. I'm going hot in bed.
SPEAKER_00Hot in bed, black.
SPEAKER_01And then walk to and or drive to a good coffee shop.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_01Get nice coffee. Around like 10:30. Latte.
SPEAKER_00Cold brew.
SPEAKER_01Latte.
SPEAKER_00Latte.
SPEAKER_01Latte.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I'm doing cold brew this one. No, no.
SPEAKER_01Mistake.
SPEAKER_00No, no, I am doing cold brew.
SPEAKER_01No, mistake.
SPEAKER_00I am doing cold brew. Mistake.
SPEAKER_01Mistake!
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_01Okay. Latte. Lunch. Has lunch. Then cold brew right at the end of lunch.
SPEAKER_00See, this is where I'm separating from you. I'm doing cold brew, lunch. Dessert for lunch is the latte. No. Yeah, for me it is.
SPEAKER_01I disagree.
SPEAKER_00I want to be lighter going into lunch.
SPEAKER_01I don't.
SPEAKER_00I don't want milk in my mouth before lunch.
SPEAKER_01I don't.
SPEAKER_00I do. Ending lunch. I do. I do. Ending lunch, I'll have a sweet treat coffee. Then rest of the day, jittery as fuck. Dinner. And then I'm having espresso martini.
SPEAKER_01Yes. Yes. That's how we end.
SPEAKER_00That's my coffee day. I will be awake for 48 hours.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you will, but you'll be all right.
SPEAKER_00It'll be a great delicious day.
SPEAKER_01You will survive. Yeah, I think that's a delicious day of coffee.
SPEAKER_00That's a great day of coffee.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I totally agree. All right, last topic.
SPEAKER_00Yes, ma'am.
SPEAKER_01Hit me.
SPEAKER_00Top coffee shop you've ever been to. Or shops, but top coffee shops.
SPEAKER_01Okay, I'm gonna go top coffee shop. I have two.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_01So in LA right now, this is my favorite, and we don't go often.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_01It's a little coffee from Handles. I love their little chocolate. I know.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_01I thought about this. You're going handles. I'm going handles.
SPEAKER_00Handles orange chocolate.
SPEAKER_01I like the handles orange chocolate coffee a lot. I think it's delicious and they nail it every time.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_01Second, also LA. Yellow.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_01Yellow for their sand coffee.
SPEAKER_00Sand coffee is delicious. I'll go that's the best coffee shop in LA for me.
SPEAKER_01Wow. For you.
SPEAKER_00For me.
SPEAKER_01And then best coffee I've period ever had was in South Korea at a cafe, not a coffee shop called Dalmatian. Best vanilla coffee I've ever had ever.
SPEAKER_00That was the best vanilla latte.
SPEAKER_01And that was a random cafe we went to.
SPEAKER_00It was delicious.
SPEAKER_01It was one of I to this day think about that vanilla whenever I ordered latte. Nothing too. I don't get them often because that one is so good.
SPEAKER_00Well, you could even see the vanilla specks in it. It was so it was the best ever. Really was.
SPEAKER_01Okay. Well what's your best coffee.
SPEAKER_00For LA, I'll do Yala. Because that was my idea. Yeah. Um for Mexico, I will do Fincus de Nueves.
SPEAKER_01Oh, their coffee is right? That's what it's called? Yeah, Fincas de I think Fincas Las Nieves.
SPEAKER_00Fincas Las Nieves?
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00That was really delicious. Like the bean of that coffee, you could actually tell was like very well done.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, because we I think we got black coffee so we got everything, we got everything.
SPEAKER_00We got like four coffees.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, their beans were the best beans we've ever had. Yeah, that was but they care a lot. That's like their whole bit.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. And then I will go for my third option. I don't know its name.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_00But it's in Asakusa. In Japan, and we did the flight of coffee.
SPEAKER_01Oh my god.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. And they gave us coffee from China that was like watermelon roasted.
SPEAKER_01I think about that watermelon coffee all the time.
SPEAKER_00I too was so good. They gave us the Oreo roasted coffee, and it was just all black coffee and a flight of coffee. All like little mini shots of it. And talk about like the best pre-sumo wrestling thing to do.
SPEAKER_01Couldn't have had it at sumo wrestling.
SPEAKER_00No, we were juiced. Couldn't have it at sumo wrestling. That's a bad place to have coffee.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00But pre-sumo wrestling, that was great. I was juiced up, ready to go for the sumo wrestling.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that was that was the best coffee flight we've ever had.
SPEAKER_00Best coffee flight I've ever had, hands down.
SPEAKER_01Hands down.
SPEAKER_00And maybe like one of the few only, really, but yeah. I don't see a point in having a coffee flight in most places because they don't offer different roasts of beans like that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that one we got to try such a variety of beans. It was incredible. I I uh I agree that you nailed it.
SPEAKER_00Thank you. I I'm a I'm a coffee connoisseur.
SPEAKER_01I'm gonna do one honorary mention.
SPEAKER_00Oh, HM.
SPEAKER_01At in Spain, there was a coffee shop next to MAPPA, summer coffee, the summer coffee. Cinnamon in the coffee, iced coffee.
SPEAKER_00Still think about that, bad boy. It's delicious. Yeah, that's a great coffee.
SPEAKER_01If you can get one of those cinnamon iced coffees when you're in Spain, you need to be able to do it. Please do.
SPEAKER_00It's the summertime. Summer coffee.
SPEAKER_01They called it summer coffee. I don't know.
SPEAKER_00And I can't wait to see what Brazil coffee game has.
SPEAKER_01Oh my god, I'm so excited. I feel like they're gonna have a really good coffee game.
SPEAKER_00Like they have to, they look coffee.
SPEAKER_01They're so close to Colombia, their beans have to be delicious.
SPEAKER_00Something's gotta be delicious.
SPEAKER_01Something's gonna be good there, and it's gonna pick me up.
SPEAKER_00Well, that's the Demon Baby episode of Coffee.
SPEAKER_01I'm Blonde Baby.
SPEAKER_00I'm Demon of Hollywood. Thanks for watching.
SPEAKER_01Make sure to like, subscribe, and tell us what your favorite coffee is.
SPEAKER_00Or if you have any recommendations in Brazil, hit us up. Yeah. Hit us up. That's the episode. Thanks. See you next time. Bye. Bye.
